Happy Birthday America!

We had a wonderful 4th of July. First we made homemade Ice Cream.

We invited the Hutton's over to a great BBQ. Hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, chips, brownies and lots more!

We decided to watch the fireworks at Thanksgiving Point. Last year we drove all the way to Lehi to watch them and on the way home realized that we could probably see them just as well from Saratoga Springs. So about a week ago we went for an evening drive and found us a good place to watch them. We got there early to make sure we got our space. So to fill up the time we had snaps, snakes and sparklers. And of course the favorite passtime of UNO.

The kids watched the first few minutes of the fireworks so well. Jorie would tell us what color each one was for the first 10 minutes and then lost interest. Cameron decided to join Grandpa Hutton in the car. He assured us that Grandpa wanted to play UNO.

My friend had more cherries that she knew what to do with so she offered me some. I loved canned cherries as a kid so I decided to can some. I borrowed my friends cherry pitter and we went to work.

Here they are washing the cherries. Cameron also helped me use the cherry pitter. He loved it. I later found that I probably should have supervised the pitting process a little closer. One of the jars didn't seal and so I opened them so I could eat a few. I ate a few and then I got one with a pit. Oops! I thought. Then I ate a few more. 90% of that bottle still had the pits in them. I don't think he pushed hard enough to push the pit all the way out. So if you eat any canned cherries at my house...beware you may find a surprise!

They love the garden and always want to be in the middle of what I am doing. On Thursday we picked 2 grocery bags of peas and they helped me shell them and freeze them. Jorie likes to snack on the raw ones. Cameron is all about business. It is a race to see who can fill their bowl with peas first.

Ward Campout

We had a great time at the Ward Campout! It was Jorie's first camping experience. We did learn, however, that group sleep doesn't really work for Jorie. She has a really hard time settling down when she is not alone. She just kept talking and talking. I asked her to stop talking and go to sleep. She said, "OK" and then on and on she went. Finally, I said, "Everyone just ignore her so she will stop talking. " It was quiet for a minute. Then she said, "Bunny? What Doing?" If we wouldn't talk to her she would find someone who would.

Last night at dinner we had spaghetti with garlic bread. Cameron put noodles between two pieces of bread. He said, "Look a noodle sandwich! I invented it!"
